What is Recoil or “Kick”?

When a gun, any gun, is fired the gunpowder ignites to push the bullet out of the barrel.  During the process of the gunpowder igniting, gases are formed in the barrel. As the bullet is propelled forward through the barrel, the gases are pushed backward causing the gun barrel to recoil or “kick”.  Recoil can be painful to the shooter and also reduces the shooter’s accuracy.
